Specifications for Salt Bath Coloring Treatment
Our company utilizes a proprietary patented technology that applies the technique of salt bath heat treatment,
typically used to enhance the functionality of steel materials, to create Meinetsu’s salt bath coloring treatment.
By forming an oxide layer on stainless steel,
we achieve aesthetically valuable and intricately unique patterns that cannot be attained through other surface treatments.
Inportant Points
Because stainless steel is specially processed,
its corrosion resistance is lower than that of conventional stainless steel.
The unique patterns
created by heat.
characteristics of heat, is achieved without the use of dyes or pigments.
Crafted meticulously by artisans, each piece exhibits an unparalleled aesthetic appeal.
The color tones vary depending on the material of the stainless steel, offering two options: “Oboro” and “Kasumi.”
OBORO【SUS304】
A deep blue resembling the night sky, accentuated with yellow hues reminiscent of moonlight, exuding a strong presence due to its bold coloration.
KASUMI【SUS403】
A color blend of pink with the radiance of morning sunlight, characterized by soft pastel tones evoking gentleness.
The coloring treatment is adaptable to various shapes and is suitable for
a wide range of applications.
Utilization of vintage-style processed and colored metal sheets as decorative elements for café interior walls, employing our proprietary coloring treatment through salt bath heat processing.
Decoration of hotel reception walls using SUS304 stainless steel, known for achieving the distinct “Oboro” coloration, resulting in a characteristic blue finish.

Compatible sizes and weights
Up to Φ500mm×500mm, limited to weights manageable by hand due to manual handling.
Usage restrictions
Due to potential corrosion susceptibility post-coloring treatment, indoor or low humidity environments are recommended for usage.
Color tones
Vary depending on material, mass, and shape, currently compatible with stainless steel (SUS304, SUS430)
Distortion
Thin materials may experience shape changes due to the application of heat for coloring.
Coating
We recommend coating to prevent corrosion.
(After applying the recommended coating agent, passed the JIS Z 2371 salt spray test for 72 hours)
Please be careful when cleaning as the coating will peel off if you rub it vigorously.
Post-coloring processing
Bending or other forms of processing are recommended before coloring. While drilling and cutting can be performed post-coloring, caution is needed as the cut surface will revert to the base color. Welding post-coloring may inhibit the coloring process and should be avoided.
